Getting used to it

My jet lag is pretty much gone.

Mana and I did tons of shopping yesterday. Spent about... 300 dollars or so. Still not done, too. I've ordered my fridge and rice cooker but those won't be here until tomorrow. Mana showed me to a dollar store where a lot of university students shop where you can buy lots of things for 100 yen. It's pretty convenient.
My futon and table got delivered this morning. I've almost got everything, except food.

Steve is coming today. Mana and I wanted to go with Mio to Fukuoka originally to meet him when his plane came in, but I had to stay home today and wait for my futon to come. I still don't have a cell phone (tomorrow, probably) so I don't know if Mio left already or not. She probably did. It's 12:50 pm right now.

Bought some bookshelves too. On our way to the store, we randomly met up with one of Mana's friends, and he came with us to the store, and then to my place afterwards to help build the bookshelves. His name is Wataru.

Don't have classes til the 6th. Our Japanese Language test is on Tuesday. Turns out I'm pretty good at Japanese. Apparently most of the time, people who come for the SPACE problem know barely any or none.

Guess that's all for today. Mana thinks it'll be a good idea if I get internet at my place. Only 3000¥ a month, apparently. She says that I'll have to right reports and things once school starts, and the computer labs at the university only have certain hours that they're available.

That's all for today.

Oh, and yeah, by the looks of things, Japanese cell phone can, in fact, cure cancer.

@JOHN: Man, just as I thought, the days are SO long. Seriously, living a day takes like, a week.

@JAZ: And why didn't you name that fish after me?

@MOM: I'm not culture shocking and I never did.

Dude, I'm already like, a month into school. You start hella late. O0o then again, Japan's school schedule is like...year round, with breaks in between. What uni are you going to again? holy crap Charlie just jumped a little out of the water LOL. I don't have ADD.

Seriously. Anyways, hope you are staying healthy and all that jazz! What are you going to cook for food, or have you been eating out? Tonight, I cooked my friend spaghetti and Parmesan chicken. It was awesome good. OH, please, while you're in Japan, go and eat an authentic okonomiyaki for me. Kthx. :D

I forgot a bunch of stuff. No fridge with the apt? Do you have any cooking thing other than the rice cooker that's coming? Is it really just basically a room? What's on the floor? Do you have windows? Is it up a bit or really on the ground level? Can people see in when they walk by? Is it far from the university? Who is Jazzy?

These days I wouldn't want to be in a situation without phone and internet. Hope that works out for ya. I'm sure you're a smart enough dude to be able to live and not completely run out of yen. And if you find yourself short, I may or may not have some tips on earning money in a foreign country. ;) Oh wait, you probably left your sax at home didn't you....

Yes, and did the mother heavily suggest that his sax be taken especially considering how much the Japanese love jazz? He hasn't touched it since Europe, John. Sad. He's a good player.

Hey Colin!
Glad you're not going to be so tired anymore.
It seems like these first few days you're going to be spending a lot of money.
You're getting a fridge! (well duh, I guess) and a rice cooker? Like a pot?
Yay for dollar stores!
Tell us when you get your cell phone #..
Cool about the booksleves. For a sec I thought his name was Watari..ahah
^^ Glad that you're getting to know everyone.
huh, that's interesting about the SPACE program. That's probably why Mana was suprised at your good Japanese.
How would they even let them come to Japan if they didn't know Japanese?
I guess getting internet is a smart plan. Is $300 a month a good deal?
Send your family an e-mail once you know your postal code~!

OMG! Hi Colin!
That John guy is so totally right. You are living the dream. It's hard to picture you running about doing all this awesome stuff in Japan when I'm getting up in the morning, taking the 79 and 78 to school, like a normal, boring person u.u

Do you like.. have your own shower/bath? I guess so. I watched this show about Tokyo that said most appartments don't have baths and you gotta go to public baths. But that might just be Tokyo?

Was is really hard when you started speaking? I mean.. all the new vocabulary, and suddenly having to understand it all the first time? Or do you ask them to repeat it over and over? Moo ichido onegashimasu? :P Thats how I would be, anyway.

I can't wait till you start school. I wonder if they'll bombard you with overly complicated and rare kanji. Like in Neon Genesis Evangelion.. Asuka makes a comment about hows she's good at school but she always fails her tests in Japan cause she can't understand all the kanji. XD

Oh, one more question! Can you seriously buy anything from a vending machine? Like.. anything? Thats another thing I heard about Tokyo, and I hope its the same everywhere. If so, buy a hat. :)

OH and I hope you bought lots of clothes! Otherwise when you go to buy new pants, you'll be stylish in flood pants for the year, Mr. giant man. Haha. :)
